Perceptual Atomic noise
نویسنده
چکیده
A noise synthesis method with no external connotation is proposed. By creating atoms with random width, onset-time and frequency, most external connotations are avoided. The further addition of a frequency distribution corresponding to the perceptual Bark frequency, and a spectrum corresponding to the equalloudness contour for a given phon level further removes the synthesis from the common signal point-of-view. The perceptual frequency distribution is obtained by creating a probability density function from the Bark scale, and the equal-loudness contour (ELC) spectrum is created by filtering the atoms with a filter obtained in the warped frequency domain by fitting the filter to a simple ELC model. An additional voiced quality parameter allows to vary the harmonicity. The resulting sound is susceptible to be used in everything from loud noise music, contemporary compositions, to meditation music.

Quantitative Comparison of Brain Waves of Dyslexic Students with Perceptual Type and Linguistic Type with Normal Students in Reading
The aim of this study was to compare the brain wave pattern of two groups of dyslexic students with perceptual and linguistic type with normal students in reading. Method: In this study, 27 students (24 boys and 3 girls) from first to fifth grade with an average age of 8.16 and a standard deviation of 10.09 years participated. 8 students with perceptual type dyslexia, 10 students with linguisti...
متن کاملCategory and Perceptual Learning in Subjects with Treated Wilson's Disease
To explore the relationship between category and perceptual learning, we examined both category and perceptual learning in patients with treated Wilson's disease (WD), whose basal ganglia, known to be important in category learning, were damaged by the disease. We measured their learning rate and accuracy in rule-based and information-integration category learning, and magnitudes of perceptual ...

What is learned during perceptual learning? We address this question by analyzing how perceptual inefficiencies improve over the course of perceptual learning (Dosher & Lu, 1998). Systematic measurements of human performance as a function of both the amount of external noise added to the signal stimulus and the length of training received by the observers enable us to track changes of the chara...
متن کاملA New Speech Enhancement Technique to Reduce Residual Noise Using Perceptual Constrained Spectral Weighted Factors
This paper deals with residual musical noise which results from the perceptual speech enhancement type algorithms and especially using wiener filtering approach. Perceptual speech enhancement techniques perform better than the non perceptual techniques, most of them still return a trouble residual musical noise. This is due to that only noise above the noise masking threshold (NMT) is filtered ...
متن کاملFrom Maskee to Audible Noise in Perceptual Speech Enhancement
A new analysis of perceptual speech enhancement is presented. It focuses on the fact that if only noise above the masking threshold is filtered, then noise below the masking threshold, but above the absolute threshold of hearing, can become audible after the masker filtering. This particular drawback of some perceptual filters, hereafter called the maskee-to-audible-noise (MAN) phenomenon, favo...
